Namaste November: Individually Together at our First Yoga Retreat

Last weekend, the C’est la Vie trio enjoyed a 3-day yoga retreat in Prince Edward County led by Lee Scott of WOW Powerwalking. We entered the Drake Devonshire with a spring in our step and little knowledge of what to expect. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the other participants: 12 well-grounded, non-judgmental, and open-minded women.

Leisure time was spent soaking up the unusually warm November sun, taking photographs, walking on the rocky beach, or simply sitting on the deck. The vibrant colours of the autumn trees in all their splendour only made the atmosphere that much more serene.

Now, as we look back on the past few days, the three of us agreed that we make a pretty good team! The retreat allowed us to bond and reflect, while solidifying our individual ambitions and team goals in regards to our business. Passionately discussing this new adventure with our fellow yogis, we also realized that there is a real need for our holistic vision. This time spent together and with others, reminded us why we were doing this in the first place: we want to help and support people as they face life’s roller-coaster of emotions and challenges. We hope to achieve this by encouraging ourselves, as well as our clients, to overcome the obstacles that stand in their way in order to achieve abundance in the end. This time spent together also allowed us to realize our individual challenges as well as our role within the team; each one of us reflected on what we can bring to this collective vision to make the whole a powerful entity.

During this reflection, we also took time to discuss our individual experiences and perspectives from the past 3 days. Words that resonated with us were inspiration, dedication, and resiliency.

  1. The power of silence: Silence alone is not lonely.
  2. Finding acceptance in discomfort: Balance between pushing your limits and respecting your boundaries.
  3. Individually together: Although everyone was there for different reasons, there was a clear cohesive individualism present within the group.

As we came to the end of the retreat, we all agreed that this was an amazing gift and a great way to remain grounded in what’s important to us, individually and as part of a community. We all agree that this retreat will become a yearly tradition and we hope to encourage others to find ways to stay grounded in their own personal and community-based values. As always, remember to take good care of yourself.

Namaste.
